To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from EFC. c. D/EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} HM.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} X8783dc EFC4/T17.2.27. 40/50 DYNAMO- TA.85 EX CHASSIS 45SC. CRICKLEWOOD. A complete examination of this machine has been made and though there is some evidence of the machine having been run on open circuit, there is not sufficient to be able to regard this as proved. For one thing, the machine has the early control brush setting of 120°, and therefore the output would have been rather high. For another thing, it would appear that the solder has only just melted from the commutator connections. We should think it would be preferable not to charge the customer for the repair. The items which we think it will be necessary to correct on this machine are :- 1. Field windings are broken down across brush dust at the terminal on the carcase. 2. Surfaces of brushes and commutator require attention. 3. Control brush angle should be set to present standard of 122°. 4. Commutator connections should be re-soldered. 5. New field windings will be required. 6. So far as we can see the armature, apart from points mentioned above, is O.K. EFC. | ||
