Copies sent to Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} G.R. To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} x1113 Cricklewood. Oct. 10th. 1936. 30 HP. Carburetter Complaint - Weak Spot 48-50 MPH. GUL-77. This car has been in twice for the above complaint. Ignition plugs were clean when it first came in before we had got down to the trouble. This time we carried out to the letter the details of G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} Ratcliffe's memo., with no results whatsoever. A .064 jet has now been fitted, and the trouble cured. I am not advocating going to a .064 jet for production, but it is vitally necessary to have a flow meter for checking the jets. We can now give you a practically positive test to tell you whether the jet is right or wrong. The correct jet that overcomes the float spot will run the car in second speed up to 40 M.P.H. If the weak spot is evident it will not do more than 33 M.P.H. and you can feel the weakness. Trusting this will be of help to you. The jet taken out will be flow meter tested as soon as possible.
