Valve Gear Rig Tests.

In view of the present cost of valve spring wire, we are undertaking a series of experiments to enable design to modify our valve gear so that we can use plain carbon wire. This matter is considered urgent.

We have decided to use 2C test bed, which is at present being used for determining motoring losses on the car engine units, for the tests in question. The motor at present on the test bed will do all that is required in the matter of speed range and starting torque. We are proposing to use a SpectreCodename for Phantom III and Bentley engine unit shell complete, respectively, and drive them direct from this motor to the camshaft.

Will you please provide the necessary attachments to the pedestals to enable us to do this, and a coupling to the ends of the camshaft.

We propose to complete the motoring tests while the new parts are being made.
