617 Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}3/MH.{M. Huckerby} 28th. September 1938. The Manganese Bronze & Brass Co.Ltd., Watling Street, Dunstable, BEDS. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 13th. inst. giving particulars of a rubber coupling suitable for our requirements, i.e. 3° torsional flexibility at the maximum torque of 5 lbs. ft. Unfortunately, this coupling would hardly be suitable without extensive alterations to our own parts. We enclose, however, a scheme ECD.914, whereby with the use of new front and back plates but with the same rubber arrangement as your 387051 coupling, we could apply it quite simply to our engine. The attached scheme ECD.914 covers all the dimensions of the required end plates and we should be pleased to hear from you as soon as convenient as to whether it will be possible to make up several such couplings for our trial. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
