From the Rolls-Royce experimental archive: a quarter of a million communications from Rolls-Royce, 1906 to 1960's. Documents from the Sir Henry Royce Memorial Foundation (SHRMF).
Explaining why a drill jig plate for hydraulic dampers was incorrect, as it was made for an EAC-8 chassis and not the required 'V' or 'W' series.

HYDRAULIC DAMPERS FOR 7-EX. X7520

The reason why the drill jig plate was wrong was
because it was made to suit an EAC-8 chassis. At the time
it was the only drawing we had received for fitting shock
dampers to the front and it was not realised that another
position would be necessary for 'V' or 'W' series.
