The “Thomson” Puncture & Skid Preventer The idea consists of 3 thin flexible steel bands, broken at one part, one end overlapping the other, to allow for expansion without leaving the tyre exposed, Fig. 1. They are placed on the outside of the tyre cover, riveted on in the position Fig. 2, the ends being at different points, Fig. 3. The middle band is flat, and placed around the centre of the tyre, the side bands having an overlap to the middle band, also allowing for expansion without leaving the tyre exposed, Fig. 4. The outside of the bands to be made with projecting studs of steel, rubber or other appliances to prevent skidding or the like, also for gripping the road, Figs. 5 & 6.
