X1559 Expl: Dept: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/LG. 3rd. Oct. 1928. Messrs. Bendix-Perrot Brakes Ltd., Westwood Rd., Witton, Birmingham. Dear Sirs, With reference to your letter of the 1st. inst. In reply to this we would state that Mr. Royce, our Chief Engineer, does not believe it is possible to fit front wheel brakes to an old type Silver Ghost Rolls-Royce car without replacing - Front Axles, Springs, Stub Axles, and various other portions of the car. With your large experience of Front Wheel Brakes, you will doubtless appreciate the wisdom of refusing to fit front wheel brakes without such alterations, as nothing could be more undesirable than mechanical failure to parts, or accident due to the steering being effected by unsatisfactory front brakes. We therefore suggest that it would be most unwise for you to undertake the conversion of old type Rolls-Royce cars as we think it would be no possibility of your obtaining our co-operation in such conversions. Yours faithfully, | ||
