Notes of Meeting. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} called attention to the unsightly appearance in front of the dumb irons and it was agreed that this would have to be altered and could be done without difficulty, it really being a question of the way in which we covered over the cross bar projection. Centrally Mounted Radiator. i.e. the scheme independent of moving the engine 3" further forward. The design work for this has been completed. Question of Smaller Dynamo. In view of complaints of insufficient current it was decided to let this matter drop. Supercharging the Bentley. Memo. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Em.29/KW.15.11.34 was read. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} stressed the importance of the introduction of adjustable tappets on the Bentley chassis to overcome complaints of noise. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} stressed the fact that he could not take on this design without delaying SpectreCodename for Phantom III and/or Wraith. It was agreed that this should not be done but E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} will go into the matter to see whether any time can be saved by scaling up or down from some other model for which they had been designed, i.e. Phantom II or P.III, but in any case E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} expects to be able to tackle it not later than February. The matter was not mentioned in the course of discussion but Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} would like to stress the importance of adjustable tappets for the 20/25 as well as the Bentley, one reason being that we have got to live with the 20/25 for a long time yet, and also because it would look bad to have an improvement on the Bentley and not on the 20/25 HP. PR.{Percy H. Rose} Lamps. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} raised the question of P.100 lamps not dipping sufficiently and of the light given by these lamps not being as good as it was prior to the dipping scheme being incorporated and it was decided that, as this was a technical matter, it would be better if Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. took the matter up with Lucas. | ||
