Notes of Meeting. builds the bodies for the other 4 but there is not the same urgency for these as for the other 2 which form 2 of the 4 experimental cars. The chassis for the bumper test is promised before Christmas. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} expressed the view that, even if it were possible to send a car of this type to France before this date, it would be unwise to do so until the chassis had passed the bumper test. Re Front Appearance. It was agreed that, instead of having the mock-ups as discussed when we recently met, the experimental cars should be built as per the different schemes so that we can see them. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} raised one or two points referred to in a memo. from Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}: 1. Better jacking system than at present. It was agreed that, if the hydraulic system were satisfactory, we should like to have it. The Experimental Dept. are having it fitted up on 5-B-IV from which we should obtain some useful information. 2. Visibility from the front seat should not be worse than the present Continental Phantom. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said that he agreed this. 3. Scheme for tools. It was agreed that we should try to scheme the dashboard as suggested by Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} so that the tools could be carried under the bonnet. 4. Another point referred to by Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} but not mentioned in the discussion although Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} has previously written to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} about it is electric lights under the bonnet. BENTLEY. 5-B-IV. This car is now at Derby and it is expected it will go to France as soon as one of the other cars now over there has finished its test. | ||
