Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/W.10.4.40.

Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary}

to operate and expensive. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} will examine 9.B.V. and express an opinion on the merits of the two schemes. Col. will go into the question and get a bonnet lock of some sort fitted to 11.B.V:

DASHBOARD.

Col. reported that he had done nothing on dashboards as yet but this was going to be tackled.

INSTRUMENTS.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD{Frank Dodd - Bodies} reported that a scheme had gone down for the Ripplet with exterior lighting but that this was not one of the final schemes which Draper is at present doing. With reference to the noisy speedometer and rev counter drives Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC{R. Childs} reported that he had made little progress but that the A.C. cable was better than the Smith cable. An investigation is proceeding. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} said that this job was going fast enough and that some more A.C. cables should be tried out.

It was pointed out that it had been decided to eliminate rev counters from all Bentley cars except Corniche models and that this would simplify the noisy drive problem and also increase the amount of room available on the instrument board.

SEATING POSITIONS.

This matter has been discussed with Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} and it has been agreed that two lengths of column are necessary. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD{Frank Dodd - Bodies} said that he would like to get a satisfactory front seat standardised so that it could be tried out with the two column lengths and it was agreed that 9.B.V. was probably the best seat. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD{Frank Dodd - Bodies} will contact Mr. Green and ask him to get out a specification for a front seat which would give us what we require. The other car with a potentially desirable front seat should also be dealt with and made as comfortable as possible and it would then be submitted to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}

PEDALS.

In order to eliminate rattle and at the same time be effective for noise insulation, Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD{Frank Dodd - Bodies} suggested that we should try a simple rubber bellows instead of the somewhat complicated pad and spring.
