X4050 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} 2/MJ. Feb.15th.1930. The Dunlop Rubber Co.Ltd., Fort Dunlop, ERDINGTON, BIRMINGHAM. Dear Sirs, RUBBER ENGINE MOUNTING BLOCKS. With reference to your letters of the 13th., and 14th. inst. For Experimental purposes we do not want you to make a new mould for these blocks. We should like you to use the 1.250 mould and grind .037 off the end of each block. We have the sample made from the mould, which we have taken into consideration in our above remarks. With the reduced free length of rubber the rating we require will be slightly different and we should like the harder blocks to give .150 deflection under 400 lbs. load and the softer blocks .175 under 400 lbs. load. We have a test starting in a few days and should therefore be obliged if you could let us have the best you can do as soon as possible. We note your remarks about the permanent set difficulty but we feel that if we reduce the working deflection we ought to make some improvement in this respect. Yours faithfully, | ||
