1228 1285 Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} absent. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}2/R.15.2.38. PRICE'S OIL. When Mr. Brooker was here the other day, Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} explained to him that there was no chance of using Price's oil on P.III until we had modified the engine so that it would run on any oil. This modification, which, of course, we did not describe to him, is the deletion of hydraulic tappets at the 1st in 'D'. We told Brooker to approach Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}, and ask him to run some of the new Trials cars on 'Motorine M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore}', and if, after a certain mileage no trouble was experienced, we would reinstate Price's oil in the Instruction Book from 'D' Series onwards. We also told Mr. Brooker we had no intentions, or facilities, for testing a modified 'Motorine C' in the Phantom with hydraulic tappets.
