Resolving 'servo jaggers' with spring dampers and recommending the standardization of this solution.

X8370 We are now satisfied that jaggers can be overcome by using spring dampers G.74957 made to the sketch herewith. We have tested this damper on 12-EX which under certain conditions i.e. front brakes prevented from operating, severe jaggers are obtained using springs that were fitted for the 10,000 miles test. With the springs (sketch herewith) no sign of jaggers can be obtained. The loss of movement on foot pedal is approx. .185" but this cannot be detected in the ordinary way and is not detrimental to the working of the servo or lost movement of brakes. We suggest that a standardisation sheet can now be put through for this unit. This comes in under scheme N.Sch.2192 embodying a strong spring G.74773 between the servo plates.
