COPY. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO. LTD., UNION WORKS, BELGRAVE ROAD. LEICESTER. KSG/BHA 17th. December. 1940. W.A.Robotham,Esq., Messrs Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Mr. Robotham, In view of your letter of December 12th, we are at once proceeding to tool up the 40 mm. gun for all aluminium parts where tools are necessary. We would like to continue getting our aluminium parts from yourselves if you are in a position to continue to supply us, as we fear that any change in the source of supply would almost inevitably result in delays and troubles until the new suppliers were used to the job. If you are prepared to accept the orders from us, we would propose to place orders immediately for 200 sets of the aluminium parts. We would still like to see a responsible officer from the D.N.O. and if possible one who is familiar with the programme in connection with it. Yours sincerely, (Signed...) K.S.Gimson. Assistant Managing Director. | ||
