TO DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to CJ. (Struck through) " " BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} " " HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} " " EFC. " " BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} X.4173 RE DISTRIBUTION BOARD - 40/50 H.P. CHASSIS. ORIGINAL E1/G30/8/20. With further reference to our drawing Lec. 1277 you will note that where the conductors pass through the base plate insulation is provided. This should be of bakelite moulded to the base plate in dies. The upper, or positive portion of the distribution board should be painted red with a red pigment mixed with varnish. The paint should be applied to the aluminium base plate surface, and the moulded insulation, but not to the micanite. The lower, or negative portion of the board should be similarly treated, but with a blue or black colour. I have not shewn on the drawing the terminal for two conductors, but this should be made slightly shallower than hitherto used, as it is not now thought necessary to use washers. The terminal pressing need not be twice the diameter of the insulated conductor in depth for the purpose of holding the conductors in place. It would perhaps be sufficiently deep if made one-and-a-half times this dimension. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} D 31 AUG 1920 RECEIVED | ||
