Increased Clutch Pedal Travel - P.III.

We have started a standardisation sheet for providing P.III with an extra one inch clutch pedal travel, and we recommend that this is brought on production as quickly as possible.

The arrangement we have been using experiment-ally is N. Sch.4938, but with an external cross shaft lever Ex.25048 having 4.000 centres in the place of the standard one. This scheme has the objection of having poor geometry, and requires that one of the holes in the frame cross is slightly enlarged to accommodate the raised position of the adjustable link. In view of this we recommend that we should adopt N.Sch.5004 except that the existing angular position of the external operating lever should be retained, and that the link should be made of the limited adjustment type as used at present. We understand from Hdy.{William Hardy} that this arrangement will give the same overall ratio as the Experimental scheme.

It will be appreciated that N. Sch. 5004 should also be detailed as it stands, as it will be required for the new clutch N.Sch.4998.
