TBB6/L25712. Re Explosions in Silencer. Mr Royce 25.7.12. Tests with Special Double Throttle and with Polyrhoe Carburetter. Mr Platford reports as follows:- "With the Polyrhoe we have not been able to obtain firing in the silencer under any conditions of running as long as the ignition is on. The double throttle with our carburetter has certainly given less trouble in this respect, but is not as good as the Polyrhoe. To summarise the results of the experiments, what actually appears to take place is that our carburetter does not under full power high speed conditions, give off as good a "mixture" as the Polyrhoe, the induction pipe becoming somewhat charged with raw petrol, and on "retard" even although no explosive gas passes through the throttle, any air which passes through the induction pipe carries with it the petrol which passes [Handwritten vertically on left margin]: X93 [Handwritten on left margin]: Carburetter [Printed text at bottom left]: R R' B'Dep (T O H) (P'T 224 21.12) (1) 322 | ||
