Dear Sirs, I am in receipt of your favour enclosing the drawing which gives me the information I wanted. The base of the pillar between the two windows seems to be a bit high, but I suppose this cannot be avoided, because of the height of the glass in the back window; however, it does not seem to spoil the line very much. I have received three patterns of hood covering from Captain Withers, and I have put a pin in the one that I think is best. I sent them down to Mr. Chambers and he thinks it is the same as a hood he once had. He also told me he used to dope his hood every year, and that he doped even before he began to use it. I do not know quite what he means by this but I have written to ask him. The pattern that you sent is blue but mine will have to be black, and a good black at that, not a rusty one. Mr. Chambers also points out to me that there are certain parts of the hood that get more wear than others and have to be reinforced, but this presumably you know all about. The object of a hood like this in my particular case is lightness, and I understand that this fabric with a light lining | ||
