RE "KITE" GEARBOX AND CLUTCH. We are sending you a gearbox attached to the clutch. We think the one you have sent is not as good as the one we have, as the little shaft and the two serrated joints, if they are expected to take any universal motion would, we fear, bite in almost immediately, and we think also it is necessary to have adjustment on the clutch, as the Ferodo may vary in thickness and may wear away. We have examined also the box, and one feature of this, viz. the large castings with the bearing carrying cover, we hope to be able to adopt. Mr. Stent is very busy with this box, and there is much work to do at it still, but we hope to have it in good shape by the weekend. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
