- 2 - Stem diameter Inlet and Exhaust 11/32. Stem clearance in guide Inlet .001 to .003 Exhaust .002 to .004 Tappet clearance Inlet .006 to .008 Exhaust .013 to .015 Valve face angles 30° Inlet and Exhaust. Exhaust valves 4 7/8" long. Inlet 6 1/8" long. Lubrication. Crankshaft and Camshaft bearings are lubricated by pressure oil. Big End Lubrication - dip into troughs. Troughs spot welded into trays - oil jets to troughs. Oil Pump - vane type - 2 sliding vane. Clutch single plate - 9" outside diameter friction disc. Cooling System. Water pump situated in front of cylinder block at rear of fan drive, delivers into block, against a spreading baffle - passes through block and into head via. holes and nozzles along top joint (See sketch No.1). Fan and pump belt driven at 1.44 engine speed - neglecting belt slip. Pulley diameter outside 4.25 -------------- Valve Springs. Length in position 1.7/8" Free 2.1/4 Outside diameter 1.290 dia. of wire .160 6 working coils - 8 altogether. Coils unevenly spaced 3 bottom coils .200 pitch. Middle coils .325 pitch. 3 top coils. .450 pitch. Top washer is a pressing held by split wedges (see sketch No. X1) Valve guides. I.C. no gland at top. Exhaust valve guides have a chamfer at top (see sketch No.X1) Crankcase and Cylinder Block. (see sketches 11, 111 & 1V.) Only four core holes altogether (see sketch 11). On non-tappet side in centre of jacket there is one 2" dia. core plug. Rear end there are two 1 1/2" dia. core plugs, one near top and one near bottom of jacket. Front end there is the large hole for water pump 3 1/4" dia, with baffle inside. | ||
