CONTINUATION No.2. DONALD SESSIONS & COMPANY LTD. February, 12th, 1932. Messrs.Rolls-Royce,Ltd., Derby. New Jacks and handle were used which are always rather stiff at first until they have been used once or twice. The handle was geared nine to one. The tyre size is 20/7.00, which we presume is the largest fitted. After conducting this test it is even more difficult for us to understand what can have occurred to prevent the Jacks functioning on the set fitted to the car at Derby, and we shall be very interested to see this car early next week. We are wondering if since our last visit to Derby the wheels or the tyres of the car in question have been changed, if a much larger tyre had been fitted, as this might account for the difficulty in starting the lift. We would point out that the gear box on the handle at no time came so near the ground that free operation or disconnection was impaired. Incidently on endeavouring to use your standard screw Jack as supplied with the car we found this to be 1" too high to enter under the axle. We have fitted a number of Phantom ll Rolls-Royce cars and we are quite sure that if it had been found impossible to Jack up from a flat tyre we should have received complaints by this time but apparently our customers are more than satisfied with D.W.S.Jacks. We shall be pleased to have your further comments if necessary before our visit. Yours faithfully, For DONALD SESSIONS & COMPANY LIMITED, Donald W. Sessions DWS/JFMc. Managing Director. | ||
