FRONT HYDRAULIC DAMPERS.

The front damper pins F.79410 as you know have worn badly and we now have case hardened the lever eye to improve matters. Since, however, these pins have 25% less load/unit area than the rear damper pins which on the whole have given little trouble, we are of the opinion that most of the trouble is due to the fact that these pins operate above the normal oil level. We therefore recommend that the level of the oil on all dampers that come in for re-bushing of the lever should be raised .750" by shortening the stand pipe, and on the new type where the central oiling no longer runs out of the damper the level should be raised 1.250", the damper in every case being vented.
