We send herewith N. sch. 2413. shewing a device for adding a little friction to the steering column beyond the worm in the way that has been already tested in Derby. The ball bearing is intended to be tightened up by a special small spanner, and a device has been provided to prevent the ball bearing falling to pieces when the gear is dismantled. It will be seen that there is no isolation for oil between the friction clutch and the ball bearing, and we are assuming that the ball bearing will be filled with grease and not subsequently touched.
