WING STAYS FOR PHANTOM. X8390 X8260 X8420

Herewith we send N. schs. 2408/9. shewing how we propose to deal with the sheet metal wing stays, and the attendant problems, in the one case with the existing shock damper, and in the other case with the new axle control.

We considered it essential that it should be possible to take off the wing stay and not loosen the front cross member.

The wiring has always been a problem on these wing stays, and we suggest on these drawings a method of dealing with it, which we think will be found a considerable improvement.

We do not shew the exact shape of the wings, which is to follow, but we indicate the position which can be employed with the two types of control.

It will be noticed that we shew a slight modification to the present bonnet catch which we find should be a very great improvement in operating the catch. As there is only one new piece, namely, the central spindle, we suggest that this modification might be found extremely useful, and could perhaps be embodied before the wing stay.

As these wing stays have already done 10,000 miles we do not think it ought to be necessary to do another 10,000 miles for the slight modification we shew.

Would you kindly send us an extra print of N. scheme 2408. for transmission to Sales.

We also attach N. scheme 2411. for issuing and filing only.
