Extract from Mr. Hives's report, Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/EH14/L19614, on the 10,000 mile Engine Bench Test. ----------------------------- This test is now completed, it has run for :- 95 hours at 2500 revs. equal to 7125 miles. 56 " " 2250 " " " 3696 " Total 151 hours = 10821 miles. Valve Mechanism. - This has all stood up well except some of the exhaust valves, they are very bad, the heat seems to have burnt the seatings and there are bits right out; this is what must have caused the engine speed to drop to 2250 towards the end. I recommend that we adopt these valve springs as soon as possible. [Watermark: ROLLS-ROYCE 1904] [Watermark: MADE AT CROXLEY] | ||
