To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EFC. c. to CJ. c. to PN.{Mr Northey} ORIGINAL EFC6/T10.10.21. X.607 - EXIDE BATTERIES. The Chloride Company have latterly repeatedly urged that we have burnt up connections in the batteries which they are supplying to us. As you have previously remarked, the standard bolted connections have, up to the present, served a useful purpose owing to the regrettable failures and cracked containers which have taken place. Now, however, that the separation of the plates is definitely improved and the possibility of failure on this score enormously reduced, it is considered that the burnt up connections would really be a better proposition. The Chloride Company have submitted to us for our consideration samples of intermediate stages between the bolted and burnt up connections. We do not think these have any interest to us. We feel that we must either retain the old bolted connections or go completely over to the fully burnt up and pitched in battery cells. In view of our present negotiations with the P & R Company, you will probably not think it worth while making any alteration to the present standard cells. This is our feeling, which perhaps you would confirm. EFC. * R.R. 235A (100 T) (S.H. 798 10-12-20) G 2647 | ||
