BY/HEB.{H. Biraben} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C. Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} C. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} X7410 BYG/G.22.2.29. 'SS{S. Smith}' and 20 HP. SPRINGING. In view of the improved combination of springs and dampers, and that the trial was run with springs of English poundage, it is agreed that we shall not have special increases on poundage for Continental and Australian conditions. This will very definitely relieve the production by keeping down the poundages required to a range of four. We think that in view of the definite trend to lighter springing as exemplified in Spain and now with Pt. in Australia that we had better err on the light side even for the 20 HP. We know that Pt's original attitude when he demanded very strong springs has entirely changed. His last memo was asking why he could not have normal springs, and I think the best thing to do is to give them to him. This will be of very material assistance in spring making, as it will cut out approximately four poundages, and therefore help to reduce the cost. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
