Contd:-4- Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} here referred to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}' note re the purchase of a Fiat car and he suggested that before making a decision Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} should try the Lanchester. It was decided that both makes be tried out and report made to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} With regard to B.II, it was reported that no drawings had yet been issued. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} raised the question of Power Plus Blowers and E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said he had met the Power Plus representative as recently as January 6th and had discussed the question of blowers with him. They are to supply further information and make demonstration of what they term a quiet blower. Item 2 on agenda - re future of large car and R1/MEG.9.31. The large chassis was briefly discussed. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} said that 12 cylinders of Peregrine size would not be suitable. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} stated that there was no doubt whatever that 12 cylinders are sure to come on for our larger model sooner or later, as that is undoubtedly the best type to fulfil our requirements. He suggested the most suitable size as 3 3/4" bore x 4 1/2" stroke. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} said he would write to R.{Sir Henry Royce} on the subject. Item 3 on agenda - Synchro mesh gearbox, position both for 20/25 and P.II, i.e. experimentally and production. The synchro mesh box will be fitted to the last 25 of "T" series 20/25 chassis. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} reported that P.II No.18-EX will be fitted with Synchro box, experimentally, and will be ready for trial in about three weeks (end of January). Item 6 on agenda - America and P.II chassis. Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}4/T.1.1.32 and EmA/4.1.32. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} handed to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} a statement giving the position to date, and Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} read out the statement. From this it was obvious that Synchro-mesh gear box cannot be fitted to the present series of L.H. P.II. Contd: | ||
