Contd:-5- Item 4 on agenda - Continental Phantom, improved performance, general position, design, 10,000 mile test and production. 27-EX will be fitted up for this job. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said that he was working on designs of carburetters of RR. and S.U. types, also Petrol pump and general re-arrangement and tidying up of piping. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will look over the whole job and give approximate dates of completion of work and start of 10,000 miles test to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} and Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Item 5 on agenda - New models and subframes - assume not being provided for. It was agreed that new models shall not have sub-frames to bodies. Item 7 on agenda - Rivetless bonnets, position for 40/50 and 20/25, experimentally and production, see item 13 of Minutes of last meeting. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} reported that 18-0 had done 10,000 miles with 20/25 rivetless bonnet, and that it will be standard on G Series. The bonnet will also be of the lengthened type. Re P.II type. R-EX is fitted with a sample but is not yet standardised. It is hoped to complete 10,000 miles test in time to standardise parallel with 20/25 type. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} will watch the material supplies position, having this in mind. Item 8 on agenda - Exhaust Manifold complaints, see Item 7 in Minutes of last meeting. It was reported that 20-HP type failures are being replaced by improved pipes of either ribbed pattern or sliding joint pattern and whichever of the two proves to be the better will be ultimately used exclusively, but this will take some long time to decide. The P.I failures are being replaced by improved pipes of either malleable iron or sliding joint type and these two schemes will be tried out one against the other as in the case of 20/25. A complete new design of pipe will be fitted to the next 20/25 which goes on 10,000 miles test. Contd: | ||
