Rolls-Royce Limited. D E R B Y. [Handwritten Note]: Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Dear Sirs, [Handwritten Note]: Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Dear pump you until SU's connection on scheme. will E 14/7/36 For the attention of Mr. Robotham. Herewith please find blue print of the suggested pump body, and also blue print of the standard high delivery body. We are including this as the inside part of the new drawing is not fully dimensioned, and the internal dimensions will be the same for both. We have so far arranged for the pump to be mounted by means of two studs projecting from the back which can be bolted on to your manhole cover; the latter can then be bolted to the frame. You will notice that we have eliminated the screw plugs and fitted a cover plate held on by 7 screws and fitted with a cork washer top and bottom. We think that this arrangement is justified for the bottom as it will enable us in due course to use a die for the core which will result in better castings and less risk of swarf. The air bottle we have shown is larger in capacity than that which the writer specified when he called on you yesterday, but we think it advisable to keep this large as owing to it being long and shallow, there is more likelihood of air being lost. We should therefore like you to keep this as deep as you conveniently can. Yours faithfully, For THE S.U. COMPANY.
