B.60 Cast Iron Engine.
Flywheel and Clutch Casing.

We have been endeavouring to reduce the weight of the flywheel without appreciable loss of Inertia, and submit herewith a rough drawing Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}563, which shows a saving in weight of 13.8 lbs. or 27% with a reduction in inertia of only 9% as compared to standard.

The inertia of this new wheel is 17% more than the flexible wheel on 8.B.V. which has just been in France.

We have also incorporated a 10" Long C.F. clutch which has been very satisfactory on 8.B.V.

If you agree with this scheme it will be necessary to make the following modifications.

Clutch casing GB.4333.(The pattern is not yet made)

Increase radius round outside of flywheel.

Throw out face of starter outboard bearing .950.

Steel Pan. clutch casing GB.4352.

Increase radius round flywheel.

Starter motor drive (14 x 118T).

Lengthen pinion shaft .950.

We trust you will be able to give priority to this job, as we are anxious to get an engine in a chassis.

If it would save time for the first set, we could prepare drawings of the complete flywheel in a couple of days.
