5. Contd/
front.
More shock absorber load requested.
Amount of wear on steering nut.
Steering controls rattle.

6. ENGINE GEARS - noisy.
Noise from the dynamo drive, and also from the dynamo itself.
Tendency for engine gear dynamo drive rattle, low engine speeds, dynamo off charge.
Trouble on some cars of low engine speed "moan".
"Thrashing" noise on some engines, suspected from engine gear.
Trouble experienced on test with spring drive hub - key stripped - alters timing, causing defective running engine. This point has received Works attention. (So far we have not had any experience of this taking place on cars in service).

7. BATTERY IGNITION - make and break points burning.

8. SPRINGING.-
The general complaint appears to be that the springing is too strong. We have also had considerable trouble with rear shock absorbers being set wrongly, and it would appear that the setting of these shock absorbers does not seem to remain "put".

9. GOVERNOR CONTROL - sticking.
In several cases this has been due to the faulty working of the throttle itself, or the butterfly valve sticking, or the lever attached to the governor spindle slipping. We have also had cases where the ball end joints have been adjusted too tightly.
Apart from the above, it is considered that the ball bearing scheme for the governor control shaft, commencing on "W" series is an improvement of the control of the throttle by the governor.

10. POOR ACCELERATION FROM LOW SPEEDS.
We have not experienced much trouble in handling customers' cars at the Works in this respect, as it has been due to some faulty adjustment since the car left the Works, or the customer has expected more than is reasonable, and seems quite satisfied when a full explanation is made of the comparison between this and the "Silver Ghost" car in this respect.

11. BRAKES - grabbing, thumping or squeaking.
Servo "jaggers" if not as new cars, there is a tendency for these to develop with use.
Variation in effectiveness of brakes.
Noise from the brake mechanism when releasing pedal
Brake shoe guides squeaking.
