Dear Sirs,

For the attention of Mr. L. H. {Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Swindall.

With further reference to your letter of the 16th December, we quote herewith an extract from a letter we have just received from Messrs. Thompson Products, Inc. of Cleveland:-

"Many thanks for your letter of December 17, together with Rolls print No. EB-2970. We are giving you the analysis of XCR herewith:

Carbon .40 - .50
Manganese 1.00 Max.
Silicon .60 Max.
Chromium 24.00 - 25.00
Nickel 4.50 - 5.00
Molybdenum 2.50 - 3.00

We will make these valves hardened all over to 50-60 scleroscope, which is our standard practice. This material is proving to be an excellent automotive steel and ranks second to Stellite in corrosion resistance. I am entering the order for 12 valves made to this print."

This, we think, is self-explanatory, and we will forward the valves to you immediately they come to hand.

Yours faithfully,
F. {Mr Friese} R. {Sir Henry Royce} BANKS.
