-6- RHCl/BE7.2.33. Rear Axle. RR. Schemes 224-235. 9 x 46 Ratio. 1. The condition of the crown wheel and pinion is very good. Backlash between the gears increased .001". 2. The end float in the crown wheel ball bearing (Hoffmann No.340) increased from .001" to .0055". 3. The centre casing is in good condition except that roller bearing Hoffmann R.135 has become slack in housing. Alignment of bore checked and found correct. 4. The bushes have worked out of diff. pinion as shewn. 5. Total backlash in diff: assembly has increased to .130 at 1.125 radius. It is thought this may be due to stretch in diff. casing. This will be carefully observed on the next 10,000 miles car to see if any distortion does actually take place. 6. End float in pinion thrust bearing G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 54269 has increased from .0005" to .0035". 7. The driving flange keys have commenced to shear, and the taper shews signs of fidgeting. 8. The splines on the axle shafts are distorted as shewn. O.S. N.S. 9. Oil has entered the O.S. Hub along the axle shaft. cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} | ||
