| -2- Procedure on Bentley cars. (a) Carburation. (1) Remove the air valve cylinder (2) Remove the air valve piston. (3) Slacken the grub screw (securing the needle) and withdraw the needle from the piston to the extent of 1/8th. (.125). (4) Re-tighten the grub screw, and replace the piston into the carburetter body, care being taken to enter the needle into the jet orifice without damaging these parts. (5) Reassemble the air valve cylinder. NOTE It is advisable to deal with one carburetter at a time, to avoid getting certain parts inter-changed between the carburetters. Also, the aforementioned moves can be more easily carried out after checking the parts mentioned with the instruction book. (b) Ignition timing. (1) Retard the hand control (steering column) to a position two thirds down the quadrant towards the retard position. (2) With the hand control in this position re-time the ignition (according to the instruction book) to the mark B.A.1. on the flywheel. (3) Mark the quadrant so that the hand control may be put to this position when required. Starting & slow running (tick-over). The engine should be started in the usual way, with the mixture control in the starting position. When the engine is warm, the normal position for this control, will now be found to be about in the centre of | ||
