I have received your letter dated 3.3.20 and note your remarks re pistons. As far as I can see these pistons have the small clearance on top band, but will let you know definitely after the cylinders have been off. I hope to be able to dismantle cylinders at Nice on Friday next the 19th. inst. The rattle is getting worse and worse and I have to drive very gently for fear of seizing up.

The trip to Spain was postponed from Monday to the following day and then after making all preparations it was cancelled altogether and others runs arranged.

I have not had time to make out the usual report so will give you the chief items in this letter. Until yesterday there was nothing except the usual running to report.

X.346/1 I wired you this morning re the rear-side rear shock absorber which broke yesterday as shown in sketch. There appears to be a flaw in the metal.

There have been a misfire on picking up on both ignitions lately and I traced the miss on magneto to a faulty Lodge plug and the battery ignition trouble was due to the platinum contacts. These were in a very bad state indeed and I doubt if they will bring-the-others-just-as-they are platinum. Having
