200a. S/W To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} re 6-B-IV. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}9/E15.1.37 I do not know whether I am unduly alarmed but I was concerned to read in the report of the 11th January [crossed out text] the following: 'Entire failure of oil pressure after braking and considerable time is taken before pressure builds up, in the meantime a bad knock develops in the engine. Helical oil pump not satisfactory in this respect, and attention to swish of oil in base chamber should be made.' My chief concern is that I believe the oil circulation has been modified as per Items 1 - 4 in Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/R7.1.37 and that we are proceeding to standardise these modifications on production. First of all it looks as if we ought not to and, secondly, it looks as if it were useless running this car with the oil circulation in the condition indicated. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} | ||
