Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/R.15.1.37. It will be noticed from the Daily Report 12.1.37. that the exhaust down pipe broke off. This pipe was in mild steel. A similar pipe ran on the last 15,000 mile test, and gave satisfactory results. We decided not to standardise it, however, until we had further experience, though we have recommended the rest of the system in mild steel aluminised for production. The down take is still in Staybrite. The loss of oil pressure recorded is not easily explained. We have been in touch with Sr. who says that trouble of this nature has not been experienced on the cars to which this helical oil pump was fitted in conjunction with lead bronze bearings. The helical pumps will be on production in a month's time, and the matter is, therefore, receiving serious attention. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
