It seems essential that these should be changed over to shoes of the built up type, but whatever modifications are called for in getting EAC.1. Dynamo correct, we shall be in a position to adopt it on the 40/50 by arranging it with a belt drive, immediately on standardisation.

P.S. Mild steel shoes of the same dimensions and of one piece formation are being tested out. If, however these are unsatisfactory it would mean that the design of the pole shoe and the riveting would have to be considered in view of the trying to maintain the large radius at the end, otherwise two of the field windings will foul the three terminals at one end unless the carcase is lengthened.
