Dear Grylls,

In reply to your letter of the 14th instant, from enquiries I have made, we hold no Patents in regard to the fixing of outer discs on a pressed steel wheel and apparently (this is confidential) Talbot are not too enamoured with the idea of the hand-operated nut as they have had some trouble with these coming loose.

In regard to Cornercroft Patents I understand that they have protected some designs of wheel discs, but the only actual Patent of which I am aware is one in regard to connections through the discs for blowing up the tyres, the number being 427149. On the discs they supply to us they very carefully state -'Ace Patented Disc' but the only number given on another part of the disc is Registered No. 748,295 which is obviously some sort of a registered design and not an actual Patent.

I propose to send on to you in the course of a few days a pair of Speedometer Gears for your Talbot Ten which will give you considerably more accurate readings than the pair fitted as standard.

I am sorry if the information I have given you is not very helpful, but it is the best I can do.

Yours sincerely,
[Signature]
