X.3757a To CJ. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG8.3.20. X.3743. RE 2.EX - 10,000 MILES TEST CAR. There are several pieces on 2.EX Car which we should like to replace with new pieces which have been improved. The parts we wish to replace are as follows:- 1. X.3912. Improved Shock Absorbers. The improvement on these consists of a new method for fixing the shock absorber lever so that it cannot possibly work off. Another improvement is that the amount of free movement on the shock absorber has been increased so as to overcome the noise made by the shock absorber. 2. X.3751a. Improved Split Aluminium Pistons. The improvement on the piston is that there is an extra ring fitted to the top of the piston so as to prevent carbon forming and causing the piston to rattle at high speeds. 3. X.3563. Thermostat Control for Water Temperature. We wish to fit to this car a Thermostat Control. Mr. Royce is anxious that this should be standardised as soon as possible and therefore we want to take the earliest opportunity of getting as many miles run as possible. X.3441. We also wish to make some adjustment to lean of the pivots on the front axle with the idea of making the steering more stable. Would you please let us know the programme you have arranged for this car. If it is to be on the continent some time, we should like to have the car in Paris for one week in order to change the parts. If the car will be returning shortly, we would prefer carrying out the work at Derby. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
