The following is a brief summary of the discussion held this morning :-

SPECTRECodename for Phantom III.

(1) Tyre Noise. We are going to compare the green and red cars in London to see how much improvement we have made with our body and shackle insulation. At the same time Whyman should carry out the test with the solid shackles on the Cadillac.

(2) Gearbox. Smith should continue to concentrate on this and co-operate with Hancock and Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}

(3) Clutch. Smith should follow up the VM.20 material and get a plate ready to fit in case we have trouble with the reduced separation plate we are going to fit to the red SpectreCodename for Phantom III.

(4) Valve Noise. Whyman should follow up the valve noise problem, trying both aluminium rocker covers and also rocker covers as insulated on the Bentley. We must get on the drums, even though we neglect the drive and run the car on them under its own power.

(5) Hancock should supply West with the starting torque of the SpectreCodename for Phantom III, and also find out how deficient the present starter motor is under ordinary Winter conditions here; i.e., 12 to 15° of frost.

(6) Hancock should also estimate whether the proposed starter motor of larger diameter and lower gear will be adequate for the job.

(7) Martindale should report on the behaviour of the Oilite brake bushes.
