MANAGING DIRECTOR'S OFFICE
18th July 1941.

W.A. Robotham Esq.
Rolls-Royce Ltd.
DERBY.

Dear Robotham,

Replying to your letter of the 16th instant, there seems to be some misunderstanding about these number plates, because our Mr. Watkins, who amongst other activities handles the whole of our transport, was anxious when this car deal took place that I should retain my old number plates, the letters of which are in fact my own initials, and he made full arrangements with your Mr. Wyman and dealt with all the necessary formalities, and at the same time sent on a new set of number plates specially made for your brother-in-law, which were received and acknowledged by Mr. Wyman according to copies of correspondence I am enclosing.

In view of the fact that you have sent an invoice, it would appear that there has been another set made, and I certainly do not think your brother-in-law should have to pay for something that was done entirely for my convenience.

If after checking up with Mr. Wyman you feel that owing to a misunderstanding the responsibility is really mine, let me know and I will send you a cheque.

As far as the new car is concerned, I regret to say that I have not been able to use it, owing to the fact that the mudwing has taken such a long time.

I expect to have the mud-wing back and fitted
