PHANTOM III.
CHASSIS NO. 3.AX-21.
--------------------

On 24.3.37., a new carburetter was sent from Derby and fitted on the above chassis in order to get us out of the trouble we had in starting at times. There were four occasions on which the car was very difficult to start, on two of which the engine cut right out without any warning.

On Friday last the trouble reappeared. I went to start the engine after having been switched off for about two minutes, bu no ! it would not start. I had to resort to the old custom of waiting two or three minutes and then switch on and away it would go as if nothing had happened. All this time Mr. Rossage was waiting further up the street for me to pick up. But Saturday's occasion was the most embarrassing and annoying. I was driving Mr. Rossage in the West End and was in heavy traffic when the engine cut right out and again there was this difficulty in re-starting. Traffic could not pass me in either direction.

Ignitions are O.K. Petrol filters are clean and pumps working, also rocker filter is clean.

It is a mystery to me and I get no indication of when it is going to happen. It has happened now six times since 1st January.
