1135? 324 Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.14/MH.{M. Huckerby} 24th. June 1938. Messrs. Ferodo Ltd., CHAPEL-EN-LE-FRITH. For the attention of Mr.Sutcliffe. Dear Sirs, We are to-day despatching to you a Phantom III fan together with a driving pulley, for the purpose of tests which you will carry out for us as arranged recently. The pulleys with this fan are suitable for your 42° (approx.) "Ferogrip" belt, and we also send you with the fan three fan belts, a Goodrich belt (U.S.A.), a Dayton belt and a Gates belt which we would very much like you to test against your own belt. We suggest that the conditions of the test should be 4,000 to 4,500 drive r.p.m. and hence for fan r.p.m. since drive ratio is 1 : 1. New pulleys, of course, will be required for the above American belts and when making these you should stick to the diameters of the pulleys we are sending you. We shall be interested to hear results of the tests as soon as these are available. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
