YOUR REF Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}8/AP. DATE 24th May, 1937. 261: MANUFACTURERS OF "E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} R.{Sir Henry Royce} A.{Mr Adams}" RACING CARS MURRAY JAMIESON SUPERCHARGERS AUTOMOBILE RESEARCH ENGINEERS CUSTOMERS' CARS ARE DRIVEN BY OUR STAFF ONLY AT CUSTOMERS' OWN RISK AND AT BROOKLANDS TRACK, WEYBRIDGE, SURREY Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. Robotham. Thank you for your letter of the 20th instant. I note your remarks concerning the brake adjustment, but I should like to point out that since your Works carried out the modification on the front brakes they were adjusted after 2,000 miles, and from then until I sent the car to Derby last week the mileage is just over 1,100, and in view of this I preferred to send the car to you before adjusting them, as I considered it should not be necessary to adjust them again after such a comparatively short mileage. I fully appreciate your remarks concerning the necessity of more frequent brake adjustment now that you have fitted a more powerful Servo, but as I am anxious to co-operate with you as much as possible in these experimental brakes, I preferred to send the car back to you for adjusting the brakes after the last 1,100 miles. The brakes are now working perfectly, and I shall be glad to let you have a report after my next visit to the Continent. Thanking you, Yours faithfully, [Signature of Raymond Mays] | ||
