Dear Sir,

Chassis No.B.24.-G.A.

Your letter of 14th May addressed to Mr.Haywood has been passed to us for attention.

On examination of your car we found the front brakes were badly out of adjustment, one side could be tightened up 14 notches, the other 10. The rear brakes were also badly out of adjustment. The hand adjustment is easy to use, it takes very few minutes to adjust all four brakes. When adjusted the brakes were excellent.

This is at least the third time your car has come in to a Repair Depot with the brakes badly out of adjustment, and it is very surprising that the brakes have worked at all under these conditions. We most strongly advise you to have them checked more frequently in future, especially now that you have a more powerful servo than standard as this increases the rate of wear of the brakes.

The rear brake linings of your car, which we did not replace when last it was in Derby, were rather thin and we have taken this opportunity to reline all the foot brake shoes.

When you return from the Continent we shall value your remarks on the brake system.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
