X 512 Re Clutch Couplings. Mr Johnson 19.3.12. TEH6/119312. With reference to your attached note CJ20/C16312, a modified clutch coupling (in which arrangements have been made so that the oil will be retained more efficiently), has been designed and will be made standard in the 2100 series. We anticipate that if this joint is efficiently lubricated, then there will be very little wear, and trouble in this direction should not occur. A further modification in design is at present in hand, in which the joints are of the type used in the sphere on the propeller shaft. This second alteration is partly in order to obtain more even turning, and also to obtain the same friction in both directions of action. | ||
