Water pump & drive to L.O.F. B. 50308 & 52010.

We have had no trouble with pump, & drive is in good condition.

Controls.

No noticeable wear has taken place in these.

Inlet pipe to L.O.F. S.51605

This is in a good condition.

Exhaust pipe.

This is in a good condition. Small right angled bracket holding exhaust pipe to frame - this has broken through at bend. New bracket fitted. We consider this bracket unsuitable & should recommend a band clip type, which would obviate the sharp bend.

Exhaust box.

This is in good condition. We have had C. & A.{Mr Adams} washer on 3 & 4 cylinder port burnt out, causing bad exhaust blow. Examination of exhaust box for alignment - No. 5 & 6 cylinder port found to be slightly proud of others. This was rectified & a new C. & A.{Mr Adams} washer fitted.

Engine suspension.

Front & rear suspensions are O.K. The tube for starting handle & front suspension between first & second cross-members - two bolts loose where attached to cross member. These have been tightened up.

Carburetter & fittings to L.O.F. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} 53300.

These are O.K. We dismantled carburetter & found a quantity of sand in bottom of float chamber. We also found a small piece of hard enamel between cylinder face & carburetter, which prevented a perfectly tight joint being made between same.

Fan bracket, Fan & fan belt.

Fan bracket & fan are in good condition. Fan is rather noisy at high speeds. We have not noticed any periods or vibrations from same. The fan belt has not given any trouble, it has been tightened up a 1/2 turns of adjusting screw, since our last report.

Slipper drive.

This is working satisfactorily & appears O.K.

Magneto & drive to L.O.F. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} 32890.

The drive on one occasion rattled, but we have not been able to reproduce this. The two damping blocks for same were not bedding as they should. The two rivets, holding fibre pads, were standing proud, not allowing the full damping effect to take place. We have remedied this - fabric drive and shaft are O.K.
