For the attention of the Director of Navy Contracts.

Dear Sirs,

Q.F. 2 pdr. Mark XIV. Guns complete.
Order No: C.P. 60604/40. P.089/GO dated 25.7.40.

With reference to your letter re the above, dated 16th. September, 1940. We find that on a verbal request, we have made a number of adaptors to fit the 40 mm. gun to the Oerlikon mounting, and have also fitted up two sets of shields on the same mounting.

This is due to the fact that originally we were told that the first 36 guns would have to be supplied with Oerlikon mountings. These pieces are all available for inspection.

We understand that the programme has now been altered and that in consequence no gun will be supplied with these fittings.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS ROYCE LTD.,
